Say Thank You to our Troops

I don't support the war but I do support our troops. Consider thanking them next time you see them. It's not that hard. Go to to learn about the "thank you" gesture.

When I grow up . . .

I'm still at work and the weather outside is getting worse. Our safety officer has told us that if tornado alert goes out at the office then we're supposed to go down the stairwell.

While I'm waiting for my supposed impending doom, I just wanted to post this video a co-worker sent me. It's an old advert for but it hits close to home to anyone who has found themselves working in the field of marketing and advertising.

I love the one about the web desinger: "When I grow up, I want to be a web desinger.... A FREAK!"

Hiding Under a Rock

I just heard that we had some bad weather coming our way. I'm going to go and hide under a rock when the storm arrives. Hopefully this isn't my last post.

My mp3 player arrived!

My Insignia MP3/Video Player just arrived via UPS from!

Here's the specs on it:…lspage.jsp

I bought it because I had managed to earn enough BestBuy points to actually get this sucker for $25. Plus, this baby has Bluetooth functionality which will work with my BT stereo headphones I got last Christmas. Yes, I'm a sucker for wireless gadgetry!

My attempt at making a Filipino Parol

To Quote A Wiki:

"Parols are Christmas ornaments from the Philippines. They are traditionally made out of bamboo and paper although plastics are sometimes preferred and elaborate ones are made from capiz shells. They are traditionally star-shaped, and is thought of to symbolize the star of Bethlehem. They are usually hung outdoors on doors, patios, windows and other. They are the equivalent of Christmas wreaths in the western world. Parols are originally from Paranaque, Manila in the Philippines. They were made with cellophane but originally was from capiz shells." (source:

Here is someone's photo gallery with pictures of the real thing:

Peppermint Wreath

This wonderful peppermint Christmas wreath was hand made by one of my co-workers. She says it weighs 3 pounds, but my arms, which have been weakened by years of being a computer geek, seems to think they are heavier than that.

Getting Punchy

I'm getting "punchy" at work. One of my bosses asked me what I was doing to promote our new eNewsletter. In response, I made this poster and stuck it on my door. Next time he comes by, I'll point to this poster.

My Work Email is Down

Ugh!!! I hate it when my work email is down. So, I decided to take a pic of Optimash Prime holding a sign and sent it via MMS to our IT department.

Optimash was a gift I received today from Amanda, one of my happy* co-workers. (*-level of happiness may vary from actual person).

Remember the Trunk Monkies?

I was cleaning out my computer and I rediscovered this video a friend of mine from up north sent me from a while back. I don't know how old it really is, but it still makes me laugh. I wish I had one in my car right now.

Long Week. Short Weekend.

Last week was atrocious. Too much stress and not enough sleep makes ByteMonkey a very cranky monkey. I'll be glad when my parents return from their trip to the Philippines. I hope that everything is going well with my grandmother's funeral.

The weekend was short. I had planned on hitting the beach but the weather for Saturday was ugly. Today, I was busy doing laundry and doing some cleaning at the house. Too bad the rest of the inhabitants of this domicile is as useful as a turtle turd on a turnip.

I really wish the weekend was longer. It would have been nice to have been able to unwind a bit. As it stands, I'm super tired and cranky. I think, tonight, I'm going to go out for a bit and roam around aimlessly about town. If I do anything interesting, I'll post my location or activity via twitter.

That's it for now. ByteMonkey signing off . . .
